White Castle is expanding beyond its traditional restaurant and grocery footprint through a new exclusive partnership with Automated Retail Technologies (ART), aimed at rolling out White Castle-branded hot-food kiosks across the U.S.
Automated Foodservice Kiosks Extend White Castle’s Distribution Model
The partnership will support the national deployment of White Castle’s Crave & Go automated kiosks, starting with 1,000 locations and creating a new route to market for the company’s signature Sliders in high-traffic commercial and institutional settings.
The move marks a significant expansion of White Castle’s foodservice strategy, bringing its hot, ready-to-eat Sliders to locations where a traditional restaurant may not be viable.
The Crave & Go kiosks prepare orders on demand, giving consumers access to a variety of Sliders through a self-service, technology-enabled platform.
The rollout builds on White Castle’s long-standing strategy of expanding beyond restaurants, following its success as the first fast-food chain to sell its Sliders in freezer aisles nationwide.
High-Traffic Locations Include Campuses, Hospitals and Workplaces
The kiosks are designed for deployment across colleges, healthcare systems, corporate campuses, transportation hubs and other high-footfall environments.
Jamie Richardson, Chief Marketing Officer at White Castle, said: “This partnership provides a fun new way for consumers to experience White Castle.”
He added: “Automated retail allows us to meet consumers when cravings strike—on campuses, in hospitals and at workplaces—while delivering the hot and tasty quality that has defined our brand for more than 100 years.”
ART’s Just Baked Platform Supports National Scale
The rollout is being powered by ART’s Just Baked platform, which is already deployed across a broad range of institutional and commercial environments.
The existing footprint gives White Castle access to a ready-made infrastructure for rapid scale without the need for traditional restaurant buildouts.
David Chessler, founder of Automated Retail Technologies, said: “We’re proud to partner with an American icon like White Castle.”
He added: “Together, we’re making it easier for consumers to access authentic White Castle favorites in locations where traditional restaurants may not be available.”
Food and Beverage Operators Watch Automated Retail Growth
The agreement highlights how automated retail is becoming a larger part of foodservice growth strategies, particularly for brands looking to expand into non-traditional locations with lower operating complexity.
ART’s model allows fresh, hot meals to be delivered without the need for on-site staff, offering a scalable solution for restaurants and brands looking to increase convenience and availability.
For White Castle, this creates an additional distribution channel that complements both its restaurant operations and retail freezer aisle business.
Product Innovation Planned for Automated Retail Environments
Beyond the initial rollout, White Castle and Automated Retail Technologies said they will work together on future product innovation and menu expansion specifically designed for automated retail environments.
This suggests the kiosk channel could evolve beyond current Slider offerings as consumer demand and usage patterns grow.
